During Sony’s big next-gen console announcement, a few key members of Bungie took to the stage to show off Destiny running on the PS4, further more, they confirmed that PS users would be receiving exclusive content that’s scheduled to be detailed at a later point in time. Since the new first-person shooter/MMO-like adventure is now officially coming to current and next-gen consoles (one of which presumably hasn’t been announced yet) some consumers are wondering how Destiny will differ when each version is stacked up to one another.

Bungie’s David Dague, community manager, was faced with just such a question during a recent Q&A, and he reassured gamers that they’d receive the “full vision” of Destiny regardless of which platform they purchase it on.

Those are lofty aspirations from the team that created the Halo franchise, but they are admirable and promising for players who aren’t quite ready to make the jump to next-gen hardware so soon. Of course, keeping it on current generation consoles is just as much of a business choice as it is an accessibility choice, as it allows for more software sales. That is presuming that the greater majority of players will have yet to make the upgrade to next-gen tech.

“Destiny will be a profoundly Bungie experience, no matter which platform you choose to play it on.  It will be made better by the independent, but connected communities that rise up to support it and shape it and make it sing. It’s heart-warming to see old, familiar friends once again dreaming and speculating about what might be in a brand new world. It’s great to see new voices join the party - people eager to see what all the fuss is about. We’re going to do our absolute best to live up to your lofty expectations.”

There’s still so much that isn’t known about the game yet, but new details will come into view as the months pass leading up to Destiny’s eventual launch. In the meantime, stay tuned to Game Rant for the latest news on Bungie’s upcoming project.

Destiny has been confirmed for Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4 with no launch window currently set.
