The previous teaser was solely posted on Instagram but later taken down, leading players to believe that this was unintentional and was leaked to the internet. Regardless, the word got out and Europa was essentially confirmed as the next destination for Destiny 2.

This new teaser once again confirms June 9 as the date for the unveiling of the future of Destiny 2. It shows the Drifter inside a small scout ship exiting a larger vessel. The smaller ship is unnamed for the time being, but the larger one is most likely the Derelict for a few reasons. First, it’s the Drifter’s base of operations. Second, the ship’s signature front-facing blue dish can be seen briefly behind the scout transport at around the 6-second mark. Click here to view the tweet.
Later, the Drifter spins his iconic jade coin and lights it up. This trick was introduced during Joker’s Wild as marketing for Gambit Prime - the more intense version of Gambit. In the same scene, Drifter is seen wearing a breather. Eris was also depicted covering her mouth while on Europa so the breather could just be for oxygen. However, multiple human NPCs in Destiny 2 never wear masks while on extraterrestrial bodies, thus, the breather could be showing that the Drifter is preparing for a more hostile environment than simply a frozen moon.
The rogue light-bearer is also no stranger to frigid environments, as he was once in a place “cold enough to snuff out one’s Light.” He is a character with an incredible amount of backstory and mystery, and it’s quite promising that he will take center stage after one and a half years of being absent from the main story.
Finally, and this crosses into spoiler territory, there was a supposed leak some time ago citing the events of the entire cutscene. What Bungie has officially released is only part of the prelude to the expansion, which will be fully showcased on June 9. The leak most importantly mentioned The Stranger, a mysterious Exo from vanilla Destiny. Back in Warmind, she was suggested to be Ana Bray’s sister but this idea was never confirmed by the studio. The Exo Stranger appears to be a knowledgeable figure and could help in the coming war. According to the leaker, Bungie is aiming to create an Avengers moment, joining radically different heroes to face an invasion.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One.
