This expansion of Legendary armor ornaments is a returning feature to Destiny 2 from its predecessor, however they are set to work differently in the sequel. Here are all the armor sets that will receive ornaments on December 5:

Vanguard faction armor Crucible faction armor Trials of the Nine armor Iron Banner armor Dead Orbit armor Future War Cult armor New Monarchy armor Eater of Worlds Raid Lair armor

Ornaments will add more visual flair to armor pieces but they will not remove shaders or mods on them. Different from Destiny 1, these ornaments are unlocked by completing specific tasks. For example, in the screenshot shown by Bungie, an Iron Banner ornament is unlocked after 25 Iron Banner match wins.

Also a change from Destiny 1, ornaments are not one-time consumables. Once the objectives to earn them are completed, they are unlocked on the applicable armor pieces account-wide, similar to how exotic ornaments currently work in the game. An ornament will not require a new piece of armor, and once unlocked it can be selected on any applicable piece of armor, even if a player earned it during Season 1.

Besides a few screenshots offering just a glimpse at these ornaments shown a few months ago, it is unknown exactly what these ornaments look like. Ornaments are one way Bungie is trying to give dedicated players something else to chase, considering the negative feedback the game’s endgame and lack of grind have received. While it will add more items to chase, only time will tell how players respond and if these ornaments will keep fans engaged with the game.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
