Destiny 2 is currently in its fifth year of content, kicking things off in big fashion with The Witch Queen expansion pitting guardians against the Hive god of cunning Savathun in a battle roughly seven years in the making. It continued into Season of the Risen, which saw guardians join forces with Empress Caiatl’s Cabal to hold back Savathun’s Lucent Brood from establishing a foothold on Earth. The current season, Season of the Haunted, saw the return of Calus and the Leviathan as the ship sits in orbit over the Moon to harness the power of the Lunar Pyramid and force Zavala, Crow, and Caiatl to confront Nightmares of their pasts.

In the latest This Week at Bungie, the studio provided one final preview of the Solstice event ahead of it kicking off with the next weekly reset on July 19. The post offered additional insight into how the new event card will work and how upgraded cards can be earned through gameplay or purchased from Eververse. It then shifts focus to the events rewards and offers a proper look at the new Solstice armor sets, with their respective glows, which players will be able to wear.
The previous Solstice events tasked players with upgrading basic, white-rarity armor to legendary, purple-rarity armor with glows by completing various activities, such as the seasonal activity or Grandmaster Nightfalls. Bungie appears to be ditching this system in favor of a new upgrading system that will see players earn Silver Leaves which can then be transformed into Silver Ash in the new Bonfire Bash activity, which can then be used to reroll armor stats. The other currency will be Kindling earned by completing Solstice challenges and can be used to upgrade armor up to three times.
Armor aside, Bungie also teased a few of the other cosmetic pieces available to purchase from Eververse or bright engrams. The two pieces highlighted in the post were a new Ghost shell, though the Ghost appears to have ditched the shell to a summer-appropriate sunhat, and an emote paying homage to Nathan’s hot dog eating contest.
Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
